Tayara means 'airplane' in Arabic.
This blog is about airplanes and anything that involves them.
It is mostly about Commercial Aviation, but also General and, occasionally, Military.
During my travels around the world I take pictures and video as a hobby of everything and anything related. I also include some acquaintances’ contributions from time to time, giving them proper credit.
Please, feel free to comment or suggest on my posts.

KLM Boeing 737-800 PH-BXY, Air Europa Boeing 737-800 EC-JNF / 2014.10.23
AMS (Schiphol airport. Amsterdam, Netherlands)
Looks like a winglet competition at the Schiphol ramp between both KLM and Air Europa Boeing 737-800's. Both are Skyteam members, but the Dutch-owned aircraft (PH-BXY) is two years younger than the Spanish-owned one (EC-JNF). Do you prefer old or young? Your call...
Sevenair ATR 72-200 TS-LBC / 2011.03.12
DJE (Djerba-Zarzis airport. Djerba, Tunisia)
Boarding Time Photo Op.— Cloudy afternoon and bumpy ride ahead of us, but interesting experience during this domestic flight with the subsidiary Tunisair Express (الخطوط التونسية السريعة).
Sevenair (طيران السابع) ATR 72-200 TS-LBC ('الطاهر الحداد', or 'Tahar Haddad') bound for TUN (Tunis) as Flight UG009.

Air Asia Thailand Airbus 320-200 HS-ABN, HS-ABB / 2014.12.12
DMK (Don Muang International airport. Bangkok, Thailand)
Air Asia Thailand (ไทยแอร์เอเชีย) is an important operator at Bangkok's second airport (DMK Don Muang International), as we can see on this picture taken during a regular early morning rush hour time. Airbus 320-200's HS-ABN and HS-ABB get ready at their respective gates, while another one with sharklets initiates departure.
Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-200 B-HNC / 1999.12.02
HKG (Chep Lap Kok International airport. Hong Kong, China)
Boarding Time Photo Op.— I love to board heavies when they are parked on remote stands, since there's plenty of time to admire the aircraft and take pictures. As usual in Asia, the flight was fully booked, so I stayed a long time waiting to go up the stairs.
Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-200 B-HNC bound for KIX (Osaka Kansai) as Flight CX502.

LAX (Los Angeles International airport. Los Angeles, United States)
Qantas operates a maintenance facility at LAX (Los Angeles) for its Airbus 380-800's aircrafts on a lease for 20 years, taking advantage of the long layover the double deckers have to face at this port, since they arrive in the morning and don't get back to Australia until late at night. On a normal day, you can easily spot two of the aircrafts parked at the ramp. Today it's the turn for VH-OQI ('David Warren') and VH-OQL ('Phyllis Arnott’).
United Boeing 757-200 N19117 / 2014.09.26
BCN (El Prat airport. Barcelona, Spain)
A little over one minute behind schedule, Flight UA120 is about to successfully end another nightly hop from New Jersey. United Airlines Boeing 757-200 N19117 (formerly with Continental) was painted on January 2011 with the revised livery after both airlines merged.
Midwest Boeing 737-800 SU-MWE / 2012.08.03
MCT (Muscat International airport. Muscat, Oman)
Boeing 737-800 SU-MWE, seen here beginning taxi ahead of departure with Midwest Airlines colors, no longer flies for the Egyptian carrier, which was its second operator after Scottish FlyGlobespan. In July 2013 it went to Ukrainian Kharkiv Airlines for a short period and now operates for Russian Nordwind Airlines as VP-BOW.
Poste Italiane Boeing 737-300QC EI-DVC / 2013.03.03
FCO (Leonardo da Vinci airport. Rome, Italy)
Looking through my window as we were taxiing for departure, this one caught my attention. Poste Italiane (Mistral Air) Boeing 737-300QC EI-DVC has the capability of a faster configuration for either cargo at night or passenger flights during the daylight hours (QC stands for 'Quick Change').
21 Air Boeing 767-200F N999YV / 2015.05.14
MIA (Miami International airport. Miami, United States)
21 Air wears one of the most stunning Cargo liveries around. N999YV is one of the two Boeing 767-200F of the carrier. It was originally delivered to Varig in 1987 and converted to freighter in 2005, having flown for Tampa and Avianca Cargo before being leased by the current operator in October 2014.
Gulf Air Airbus 320-200 A9C-AK / 2013.09.20
BAH (Bahrain International airport. Manama, Bahrain)
Deplaning Time Photo Op.— First sun rays of the day make Gulf Air (طيران الخليج) aircrafts look even more golden than they usually look, shortly after arrival back home on a clear morning.
Gulf Air (طيران الخليج) Airbus 320-200 A9C-AK inbound from IST (Istanbul Atatürk) as Flight GF502.
Tiara Air Shorts SD 360 P4-TIA / 2013.04.03
AUA-LSP—Flight 3T207, Aruba-Las Piedras
Not many chances to fly a Shorts SD 360 these days. From seat 8A (almost the last row) on board Tiara Air P4-TIA, I thought this picture needed to be taken to remember the moment of this quick hop: Only 17 minutes to reach Venezuela from Aruba. The Copilot was also the Flight Attendant, giving us instructions from his seat and looking at us after opening the cockpit door. Interesting experience.
Air Berlin Airbus 319-100 D-ABGC / 2009.08.29
PMI (Son Sant Joan airport. Palma de Mallorca, Spain)
A rare sight. Air Berlin Airbus 319-100 in old colors. D-ABGC was with the German carrier only from April 2006 until March 2011. It was previously owned by American company Independence Air (N815BR), and currently flies for Greek Aegean as SX-DGF.
American MD-83 N562AA / 2009.08.03
EWR (Newark Liberty International airport. Newark, United States)
Soon to be gone forever from the American Airlines fleet and, thus, never to be painted with the new livery, the company's MD-80's remain a live classic. N562AA was retired in 2010 from AA and then flew for Redjet from Barbados as 8P-KEV. Currently in storage since October 2012.
Oasis Hong Kong Boeing 747/400 B-LFA / 2007.11.17
LGW-HKG—Flight O8707, London (Gatwick)-Hong Kong
Getting ready to land after over 11 hours up in the air, we fly over the city of Hong Kong, getting a nice view of the International Finance Centre, the Central Ferry Piers, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum as well as the Hong Kong City Hall. That's if you know where to find them, of course... Seen from seat 42A on board Oasis Hong Kong Boeing 747/400 B-LFA.

Sun Country Airlines Boeing 737-800 N809SY about to call it a night, completing a busy day of flights to HAV (Havana), JFK (New York John F. Kennedy), back to HAV, and finally back to MIA (Miami) with an almost two-hour delay and a medical emergency on board.
Malév Tupolev 154/B-2 HA-LCV / 1999.07.21
SKP (Skopje International airport. Skopje, Macedonia)
Boarding Time Photo Op.— About to board one of the finest aircrafts I've ever flown. This Soviet-built airplane gave me one of the smoothest rides ever. By the way, I'm not the guy in the picture, he was just a ramp operator.
Malév (Magyar Légiközlekedési Vállalat) Tupolev 154/B-2 HA-LCV, bound for BUD (Budapest) as Flight MA441.
