Tayara means 'airplane' in Arabic.
This blog is about airplanes and anything that involves them.
It is mostly about Commercial Aviation, but also General and, occasionally, Military.
During my travels around the world I take pictures and video as a hobby of everything and anything related. I also include some acquaintances’ contributions from time to time, giving them proper credit.
Please, feel free to comment or suggest on my posts.

Qantas Boeing 747-400 VH-OJC / 2009.09.05
LHR (Heathrow airport. London, United Kingdom)
This is history already, since the Australian carrier retired all of its B-747's on June 2015. Qantas Boeing 747-400 VH-OJC ('City of Melbourne'), pictured here while taxiing, was retired on March 2014 after 24 and a half years of successful and loyal service. ✈
TAP Airbus 310-300 CS-TEW / 2007.05.14
CCS (Simón Bolívar International airport. Caracas, Venezuela)
This one is a classic. TAP Air Portugal Airbus 310-300 CS-TEW ('Vasco da Gama') no longer exists, as it was scrapped not long ago. It flew for the Portuguese carrier from 1990 until shortly after I took this picture as it was getting ready to cover the route to OPO (Porto) as Flight TP124. It enjoyed a second life 2008-2013 with Canadian Air Transat as C-GTSK. ✈
Silver Saab 340B N334AG / 2015.07.03
FLL (Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International airport. Fort Lauderdale, United States)
Seconds from touch down for Silver Airways Saab 340B N334AG, an aircraft that entered service in January 1998 for Mesaba Airlines, first with Northwest Airlink and then with Delta Connection as a result of the merger. ✈
Ethiopian Boeing 727-200/Adv ET-AJU / 1992.09.01
DIR (Aba Tenna Dejazmach Yilma International airport. Dire Dawa, Ethiopia)
Blast from the Past.— I used not to like short stopovers during my itineraries, but now I miss them. I now realize that the more you stop, the more chances you have not only to visit other airports and see other aircrafts and spot different airlines, but also to photograph while waiting, boarding or deplaning. Those times are mostly gone now. On this occasion I was on board Flight ET627 from JIB (Djibouti) to ADD (Addis Ababa), and I was surprised with a stop halfway at DIR (Dire Dawa). While waiting to board again, I went to the observation deck at the airport so I could take a shot of the aircraft I was flying in: Ethiopian Airlines (የኢትዮጵያ አየር መንገድ) Boeing 727-200/Adv ET-AJU, with the old company's livery on a hot, humid mid morning. ✈
Vueling Airbus 319-100 EC-JXJ / 2012.08.17
LYS (Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport. Lyon, France)
Boarding Time Photo Op.— This was the first time I got to fly on a Vueling A-319. I found it cool that this particular aircraft was named in French, since the flight was departing France. I know it was a coincidence... or maybe not. But still...
Vueling Airbus 319-100 EC-JXJ ('Un Vueling, s´il vous plait'), bound for PMI (Palma de Mallorca) as Flight VY1222. ✈
Kenya Airways Boeing 767-300ER 5Y-KQX / 2010.12.05
NBO (Jomo Kenyatta International airport. Nairobi, Kenya)
Kenya Airways Boeing 767-300/ER 5Y-KQX, getting ready for a night ride to CDG (Paris Charles de Gaulle) as Flight KQ112. This aircraft has been in storage for the past 13 months and is about to go back to service with portuguese EuroAtlantic Airways as CS-TKR. ✈

WebJet Boeing 737-300 PR-WJW / 2011.10.25
GRU (Guarulhos International airport. Sâo Paulo, Brazil)
Brazilian low-cost WebJet's Boeing 737-300 PR-WJW started its life back in 1994 for Ansett Australia and since 2001 remained in that country with Qantas for over 10 years. It then joined Romanian Blue Air before coming to Brazil in 2010. It now operates for Mexican VivaAerobús. ✈
StarFlyer Airbus 320-200 JA01MC / 2011.03.24
KIX (Kansai International airport. Osaka, Japan)
StarFlyer (株式会社スターフライヤ) aircrafts sport an interesting sleek, cool paint scheme, with each side of the tail looking different, as seen here on Airbus 320-200 JA01MC. This was the first airplane for the company, back in 2006, hence the '01' number included in the registration and the name 'City of Kitakyushu', where the company is based. This aircraft, though, is currently flying for Spanish carrier Vueling as EC-LZZ. ✈
Spirit Airbus 320-200 N619NK, AeroMéxico Connect Embraer ERJ-145ER / 2014.07.03
LAX (Los Angeles International airport. Los Angeles, United States)
Six aircrafts, six different airlines in just one shot... One of the things I love about plane spotting at LAX. The one we can see more clearly is Spirit Airlines Airbus 320-200 N619NK, while AeroMéxico Connect Embraer ERJ-145ER XA-ACA taxies in the background. ✈
CanJet Boeing 737-800 D-ATUG / 2014.03.12
YYZ (Lester B. Pearson International airport. Toronto, Canada)
Yup, Canada in Winter time at its best... But it was not the reason why defunct CanJet suspended operations just over a month ago now. Two of its aircrafts rest at the apron during the last heavy snowstorm of the 2014 Winter. Boeing 737-800 D-ATUG was leased from TUIFly and is now back to the German leisure carrier. ✈
Wind Jet Airbus 319-100 EI-DVU / 2011.04.20
FCO (Leonardo da Vinci airport. Rome, Italy)
Defunct Wind Jet colorful aircrafts are no longer around. The low-cost carrier ceased operation on August 2012. Airbus 319-100 EI-DVU, which before joining the Italian airline serviced Air Inter and Air France, now flies for Nigerian FirstNation Airways as 5N-FNE an with the name 'Faith'.
Royal Air Maroc (الخطوط الملكية المغربية) Boeing 767-300/ER CN-ROW / 2011.12.05
ATL (Hartsfield-Jackson International airport. Atlanta, United States)
As my aircraft was taking off I got to see this beauty at the Delta Air Lines Maintenance area. Royal Air Maroc (الخطوط الملكية المغربية) Boeing 767-300/ER CN-ROW originally flew for Alitalia for 10 years (1999-2009) as EI-CRL and under the name 'Leonardo da Vinci'). ✈
Shanghai Airlines Cargo MD-11F B-2177 / 2010.06.25
ORD (O’Hare International airport. Chicago, United States)
Shanghai Airlines Cargo (上海货航) MD-11F B-2177 taxiing before departure. This particular bird started its life in 1995 as a passenger aircraft for Taiwanese EVA Airways. It ended its days servicing China Cargo Airlines and, sadly, has been in storage for over two years now. ✈
