Tayara means 'airplane' in Arabic.

This blog is about airplanes and anything that involves them.

It is mostly about Commercial Aviation, but also General and, occasionally, Military.

During my travels around the world I take pictures and video as a hobby of everything and anything related. I also include some acquaintances’ contributions from time to time, giving them proper credit.

Please, feel free to comment or suggest on my posts.

You can get pretty impressive shots like this one when plane spotting at Nai Yang Beach. Who thinks about Maho Beach while being here, anyway? Defunct Transaero (Трансаэро) Boeing 747-400 EI-XLM, inbound from DME (Moscow Domodedovo), is now in storage after the carrier ceased operations a little over a month ago.

Austrian Boeing 777-200/ER OE-LPB / 2015.11.25

MIA (Miami International airport. Miami, United States)
Happy to catch Austrian Airlines OS097 arrival from VIE (Vienna) today, since it usually lands on 8R or 12. I think strong winds had something to do with this change. Boeing 777-200/ER OE-LPB ('Heart of Europe') first operated with Lauda Air (1998-2005) and was painted with the Austrian Airlines livery after the two carriers merged. The airline only started its first ever non-stop scheduled service from South Florida to Austria on October 16 as part of the airport's strategy to have more direct links to Europe. VIE is the 14th destination to the Old Continent from MIA.

Spanair Airbus 320-200 EC-IZK / 2010.07.30

MAD-BCN—Flight JK428, Madrid-Barcelona
Some prefer to travel by air... a lot more seem to prefer doing it by ship. Or so we may deduct from the collection of cruise liners docked at the port of Barcelona on another hazy Summer afternoon. One passenger airplane-seven passenger ships. Seen from seat 9F on board Spanair Airbus 320-200 EC-IZK.

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress N5017N / 2010.10.16

LZU (Gwinnett County Airport-Briscoe Field. Lawrenceville -Georgia- United States)
Not very fond of military aircrafts but, being a classic, this one is a beauty so I couldn't resist. Very well preserved Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress N5017N ('Aluminum Overcast'), on display during an event at what was my truly local airport for a few years.

Airport Highlight: MVD (Montevideo Carrasco International airport) / 2011.10.30

Airport Highlight: MVD (Carrasco International airport).— The new terminal at the Uruguayan capital's airport was inaugurated in 2009, roughly two years before I got to visit it. Its striking design by renowned local architect Rafael Viñoly is already a landmark and the building is almost fully operated by renewable energies. The big roof of double curvature extends for almost 400 meters (1,300 feet) and it can handle up to 4.5 million passengers a year.

A tribute to already defunct Russian Transaero (Трансаэро), which ceased operations only a week ago. I caught many of its aircrafts all over the world. Boeing 767-200/ER EI-CXZ, seen here less than a year ago on short finals over London, was the first of its type for the carrier, back in 2002.

Alaska Boeing 737-400 N791AS / 2013.06.28

United Boeing 777-200/ER N204UA / 2014.01.23

ORD (O’Hare International airport. Chicago, United States)
While on a huge delay for the flight to NRT (Tokyo Narita), they decided that it was wise to make use of the spare time by cleaning the windshield while the copilot checked the paperwork. United Airlines Boeing 777-200/ER N204UA, at gate B16.
